Buckets O' Borneos!! These guys came from the same male Fade that
produced Ultra Breits bred to a female Marble. In this clutch there
are possible het Ultras, probable het Ultras, Marbles possible het
Ultra, and Marbles probable het Ultra... quite a mix!!

Ultras!!! My clutch of Fade (het Latte) x Ultra Breit hatched
out today, and out of ten eggs, four were visible Ultra Breits/Lattes!!
To the best of my knowledge, this is the first combining of the
two different lines, and the first time it has been proven that
the Ultra Breit and Latte mutations are actually one and the same!!
Needless to say, I'm more than a little bit happy about these
guys!! Here's one of the little glow worms:

The long wait is over; my first baby blood of the season crawled
out of it's egg today. This is my smallest clutch ever, only three
eggs, but all three of them look fantastic. These guys should
mature into incredible adults, as their parents are absolutely
top-of-the-line, fire engine reds!

Today I hired a new security guard... well not really. But this gal
does do a pretty good job of looking after my collection, and keeping
the riff-raff out. Meet my new Argus Monitor, courtesy of Rich
Crowley ( www.richcrowleyreptiles.com ).

H.R.669 defeated!! The nonnative species ban failed to make it out
of the House subcommittee due largely to the enormous letter writing
and phone campaign put together by U.S.A.R.K. and carried out by you,
me, and tens of thousands of other reptile keepers. All together,
U.S.A.R.K. hand delivered not quite 50,000 letters (not including all
the letters that people mailed in on their own) and reptile keepers
across the country clogged the phone lines of every subcommittee
member earlier this week. H.R.669 in it's current form is now dead!
There will no doubt be many more challenges, and potential laws that
need to be fought, but for now, we as reptile keepers won this particular
battle.

Eggs again!! This is my most exciting clutch of the year. I bred a
male Fade (het Latte) borneo to my big female V.P.I. line Ultra Breit,
and she layed 10 perfect eggs! For a while now, many people
(myself included) have thought that the Ultra Breit and Latte mutations
are the same thing. God willing we'll all know for sure in 60 days or
so. To the best of my knowledge, this is the first breeding of it's sort.

Red White and Chrome!!! The numbers were quite a bit better
this time; 14 good and only 3 slugs. This gal is the other female
that was bred by my male that passed. I've bred this pair before,
and the babies are incredible!

Eggs!!! It's a bit bitter-sweet, but healthy eggs are always a good
thing, no matter the circumstances. The day after I found out that
the father of this clutch passed away, this girl layed. Unfortunately
the fertility was terrible, with the grand total being 3 good ones
and 16 slugs. Like I said, between the death of one of my most
prized breeders, and my personal worst fertility rate, it's not the greatest
of circumstances, but I am grateful as always for good eggs. Here's

Well, I hate to start this section off on a sad note, but the timing
just kind of worked out that way. Today I found out that my
personal favorite Blood died at a good friend's house while on
breeding loan. Just a few hours prior to his death he was seemingly
in perfect health, and just like that he was gone. Like anyone who
has kept herps for any length of time, I've unexpectedly lost animals
in the past. I suppose that's the down side to keeping live animals.
This one just stings particularly bad because he was my favorite
snake, and the reddest, "cleanest" Blood I've personally seen.
Needless to say, I'm pretty bummed out about it. The only up side,
is that I have a female holdback from a clutch he fathered last
year, and two more females that are gravid by him this year.
Anyhow here he is, this is the last pic I took of him:
